KCGPA is building an innovative high school that embraces equity, engages community and empowers young women to grow and become future leaders.

KCGPA is Kansas City’s first and only open-enrollment, single-gender, charter public school.

We are an affiliate of the Young Women’s Leadership Schools. This national network of all-girls schools, founded in 1996, has ensured college access for thousands of young women from economically disadvantaged neighborhoods.

In its 20+ years of operation, these schools have achieved graduation rates of 95%, a nearly 100% college acceptance rate, and an average of $20,000 per year/per student financial aid for college. The success of the model has inspired the creation of more than two dozen such schools across the country.

Our Ready To Lead Campaign will enable KCGPA to expand our campus for current and future students.

The high school addition allows us to expand our mission to prepare our students for success.

Students, faculty, friends and family will gather here to develop and share a love for lifelong learning. Students will be challenged and supported as they move through the high school experience.

The new building will include 21 classrooms creating a variety of learning experiences, a gym and cafeteria for gathering, and support spaces for the faculty.

Mission

We guide young women to use their voices, succeed in college, and lead impactful, meaningful lives.

When KC Girls Prep welcomed its first students in August, 2019, it became the first single-gender, open-enrollment charter public school in Kansas City.

We are now growing one grade per year to form a 5th - 8th grade middle school and a 9th - 12th grade high school.

Growth - We are constantly growing to be our best selves.

Vision

We seek to address a community need for more and better educational opportunities in neighborhoods that have been negatively impacted by segregation.

We are creating an intimate environment, where families, students, and staff will build the close and supportive relationships essential to developing young women who are self-directed, high-achieving, and committed to supporting one another.
